Too good to be true!

Having the Amateur Photographer magazine coming to my door weekly, i´ve picked up that in quite a few of the recent ones thereś been a lot of advertising for a really handy programme which is a great help if you are interested in portrait photography. Have a look at www.portraitprofessional.com Though the money for it doesn´t sound too much, not being able to get that at this point, i decided to have a go with the trial a least.
I was amazed and really enjoyed using it, as it was really simple ( being not the brainiest in all sorts of programmes) and got to the point of wanting to save what i had edited, but could not, by getting the hint of what you need to do to purchase it! Free trial with the opportunity to be be able to save what you managed to do to your image without any tricks to it, would be too good to be true, wouldn´t it!!?
But well, they need to make money off something aswell, i do undestand, but hopefully that would be my next purchase soon, and i do recommend having a look at it, if you are interested in portraits.

Always have your camera with you...

Itś been way to long ( yet again!) since i myself have been on my site! But i kindd of do have a reason for it!!..
I ended up getting a great opportunity to do some photos for someone and my first even paid photos. Little while ago i took my son to his friends birthday party and my friends, the mother and father were happy to see that i had my camera with me, as it was a rather BIG party and they would have not have the time to try to capture it on photos. So, whenever i could, i took some photos.
After giving them to the parents, i got some really encouraging words from them, as they really loved them!

Soon after that that mum and me went to a local fundraising ladies night and yet again, i took my camera with me ( just in case;) ). While i was taking some photos there, my friend was having a look what different shops were offering there as there were some selling their products, and one of them was a lovely boutique owner who ended up having a good chat with my friend.
Somehow soon i joined them and my friend brought the topic to my photos, which seemed to interest the businesslady that much that she asked if i would go and take some photos of their shop as they are about to move their shop and would love to be able to look back from "before" to "after" and need photos for the website they are about to set up!

By now, the job is done as just 4 days ago i took the cd with the images to the shop. I went there alltogether 4 times and looking back, i can see that i did pick up a lot and learnt alot during that process. And that is a great proof of the word spreading through the people!
My friend did mention to me that she would love to have me at their home and to do take more photos of their children and as i had taken of some other kids at the party aswell, she will forward them to their parents..

So, in conclusion, i really appreciate the opportunity i was given, another learning curve!
But i think now, i really need to get cracking with my second module, as that has been going slooow...

Swans at Lanark Loch

"Transport"

Last week our local Camera Club held a fun competition under the theme transport. I was eager to give a go, really for the fun of it and see how the response would be. Alltogether there was 12 people taking part and 36 images.

I went through a lot of my old photos to see if there would be anything at all suitable for that theme and found these...

It was great to see other peopleś work, which varied from simply fun images to some truly professional ones. That also helped me to get to know the people from this local group a bit better, as the previous competitions held have been between several camera clubs.

We saw the results today and at first thinking i was at the far end, soon realized that that was just the order of the photos submitted, but i was somewhere half way with both of them, which was pretty good to me!

results..

Three weeks of waiting is over and yesterday my results for the first module came back. I was releaved to read what the tutor had said, as it was so helpful and not as scary as i made it out to be in my head. The marks are added up for technical content, meeting the task, visual value and self-assessment and i got 84 out of 100, which i was pretty pleased with. Could always wish for more but if i would be so great at this, i would not be taking this course, would i :P
So now to the next module..
